Dog School Leicestershire - All About Dogs Show

by Kirsty Lynas // April 2017

All About Dogs Show came to Newark on the 22nd and 23rd April and the Dog School Leicestershire and Nottinghamshire teams were very excited to be attending!

The first challenge was to put up the gazebo, the first time either team had attempted it! An hour and some good team work later the task was complete and some key lessons learnt for the next event (mainly remembering to bring a mallet to put the pegs in to the ground!)

The weather was kind over the weekend, sun shining and warm temperatures which brought out lots of very cute pooches and their owners. Needless to say we all revelled in the cuddles and kisses from the dogs that visited our stand, but we also had some fantastic conversation with owners about the benefits of positive reward based training and reading the body language of dogs with our ‘Learn To Speak Dog’ board. It was great to hear the enthusiasm that everyone had for our classes and we are really looking forward to seeing some of the people attend classes in the future.

Our lucky dip ball pit and snuffle mat proved to be extremely popular with all the dogs that passed by, many of which came back for a second or third go! It was great to see some of Dogs Trust Loughborough’s ex residents who came to visit with their families. The lovely Charlie who had been rehomed 18 months earlier won best in show and celebrated with a good play in our ball pit!

From snuggles with tiny Chihuahuas to slobbery kisses from Pyrenean Mountain Dogs, the weekend flew by and much fun was had by all. Here’s to the next event!
