Keeping your dog cool this summer

With the sporadic and (recently) very hot nature of the natural phenomenon that is the Great British summer it’s important to be prepared!

We’ve been racking our brains for ideas to keeping your canines cool and have found that dog popsicles or ‘PUPsicles’ are great fun and effective!

We’ve listed some of our favourite recipes below.

Yoghurt Peanut Butter and Banana Ice Cubes:

Blend plain yogurt, Peanut Butter, sliced Banana and Honey (optional) in a food processor or blender until creamy. Fill a silicone mold or an ice cube tray. Freeze. Pop out of molds and serve to your furry best friend.

Frozen Chicken Pops:

Place cooked chicken breast, parsley and water into a freezer proof container such as a plastic cup. Freeze. Run cold water around the mold to remove. Delicious and cool!

The Dogsicle:

Fill a bucket with chicken or beef stock. Do make sure that the stock you use isn’t highly saturated with salt. Throw in toys, treats and chews such as carrots, peas, treats, peanut butter, tennis balls. Freeze overnight. Turn out of the bucket and enjoy hours of entertainment for your dog!

We also recommend frozen Kongs, towels or t-shirts run under the cold tap, walks in the shade and

ensure your dog has access to plenty of fresh water!
